If we don’t know if customers are converting and signing-up, making purchases, scheduling with you, or anything else that matters to you, we don’t know if digital marketing is helping. In my past role at an agency, I was responsible for the back-end onboarding and development of all new accounts. I have a unique breadth of experiences working with even the most complicated website stacks and am comfortable setting-up conversion tracking strategies whether your website is on Squarespace, WordPress, Github, or hosted on a server tucked away in your basement! In addition to purchases or sign-ups, I’ll ask you about what other sorts of things may be important for us to track, and I’ll set-up Tag Manager systems to track them.

What is conversion tracking?

Conversion tracking is recording events that matter to you that happen on your website (like purchases, sign-ups, and scheduling meetings). By tracking conversions, we can attribute them to different sources. In other words, we can know if customers click on an ad and make a purchase on your website.

How do I set up conversion tracking?

How you set up conversion tracking can vary based on how your website is built. In some cases, it’s simple as Google Analytics 4 will automatically identify events that matter to you. In other cases, specialized code snippets are required to create events that are then able to be tracked as conversions. I’ve worked with conversion tracking on everything from Squarespace and WordPress, to GitHub-backed websites and more, doing everything from simple tracking to writing complex code.

What is Tag Manager?

Tag manager is a tool to manage your conversion tracking for multiple sources at once. It connects to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which then connects to Google Ads and other paid search accounts. By using Tag Manager we can simplify conversion tracking for your business and website. Tagging is simply referring to the snippets of code used on various pages to track actions that matter. Tracking Pixels refer to a type of tag.
